patchwork Christmas stockings

My sister asked me to make her kids some stockings.
Here they are - I hope you like them!

I love doing embroidery.
A great way to pass time while on a road trip!

crocheted beauties

I just had to take pictures of these lovelies crocheted by my Mom for my baby.

Makes me wish I could crochet but I've tried both knitting and crocheting, and unfortunately, I'm all thumbs.
We sure do love the handmade gifts though!

it's finished!

I finally finished stitching the binding on this quilt and it is now adding a touch of cute to my girls' bed!

quilt

I am so happy with how this turned out...all that time put into making this big a quilt was worth it in the end...or so I think anyway.
I really enjoyed piecing the top of this quilt but quilting and binding it - not so much.
If I ever make a quilt this size again I think I may send it off to be quilted.

I used the Small Plates pattern in Elizabeth Hartman's book (love this book!) but made it a little bit bigger.

For the front I used Hoo's in the Forest by Doohickey Designs with a few other fabrics thrown in and Kona Snow.  The backing is Kona Ash and the binding is Kona Blue.

Happy Monday!
It is for me because now I can focus on other sewing without finishing this quilt hanging over me!

vintage fabric - bunting banner

Remember this post.  Well, I used some more of this vintage fabric to make a bunting banner.

I'm thinking this would be a great photo prop or look cute in a kids bedroom.

It may show up in the shop later today...unless I decide to keep it.  :-)

the wrestling match...

...is over!

I spent a couple days wrestling this full- to queen-sized quilt under my sewing machine as I quilted it.
It was kind of a challenge when doing the middle section!
I stuck with straight line quilting.
Now to hand stitch the binding and it will be ready to put on the girls' bed.

Hopefully I can post pictures of the finished quilt later this week!

zippered pouch

I needed something to keep my money in at the craft show so I whipped up a linen zipper pouch.
Had some fun using up scraps to create this little patchwork cutie!

I added a zipper pull and some hand stitching for fun little pops of color.

Now it will work great for a travel embroidery bag!

mini quilt

After seeing this post (such a pretty blog and full of inspiration), I was inspired to pick up a needle and give this pattern a try.

mini quilt

I had done some embroidery, but mainly just a running stitch and some back stitching.  Here I got to do lazy daisy stitches and also French knots.  Once finished, I decided to put my shop name in the middle, some patchwork around the edges, and created a mini quilt.

I changed the look a little ( I may have just gotten lazy), and just did one French knot for each flower instead of six.  But I do like what just one looks like - kind of like a rose I think.

I found doing this embroidery fun and relaxing.  Can't wait to do some more!

I used this mini quilt at the craft show to display my shop name.

craft show

The craft show I attended on Saturday was a good experience for me.
Also good to get my shop name out there!

Here are a few pictures of our table.  My cousin (yo yo kids) and I had a booth together.

I will be stocking the shop over the next few days.  I've been devoting my time to sewing for this craft fair and am looking forward to being more active on Etsy again!

disappearing nine patch

Reproduction fabric bought at a local quilt shop.

fabric

I made a disappearing nine patch quilt - so quick and easy.
I love the colors and am pleased with how it turned out.  A fun fall quilt!

The quilt was bound using this method as I just can't bring myself to hand stitch a binding!
I am very happy with how it turned out!

I can certainly see myself making another disappearing nine patch quilt in the future!
