Christmas advent calendar

I've been wanting to make some sort of advent calendar for my daughters for the past year but wanted one similar to what we had growing up.  It was a fabric calendar with a picture at the top of Santa and Mrs. Claus sitting by a cozy fire sipping warm drinks.  Below this picture were little pockets with the numbers 1 through 24.  Then there was a little Christmas mouse who moved from pocket to pocket, day by day, as we counted down til Christmas.

Having searched online for a pattern similar to this and not finding one that was just as I wanted, I decided to create my own.  A little house with a Christmas elf counting down the days as he pops from window to window.

This was a great way to use up some of my scrap fabric!

I also created a pattern in case anyone else is interested in making one.

pattern testers needed

Thanks for your interest in testing my pattern!  I now have enough testers.
Hopefully the pattern will be in the shop next week!

I've been working hard to get an advent calendar pattern together and I think it's finally done!
Now I just need a couple pattern testers to try it out.  This includes making the calendar (in the next few days) and letting me know if you come across any typos or errors or have any problems while making it.

quilt progress

I have had a fat quarter bundle of Denyse Schmidt's Flea Market Fancy sitting in my sewing room for a few months.  I finally took some time to cut into it and started a couple quilts.

I love this fabric...so colorful and fun!
My daughter even commented on my pretty wall when I was arranging blocks on my design wall!
(design wall = batting tacked on the wall)
This was my first time using one but it makes designing a quilt so much easier.
